First, I want to say how much I dislike how the girl on the cover of the book doesn't have Daisy's deep ocean blue eyes.

 

I brought Daisy Jones and The Six to my night shift expecting it was going to be so good I would binge it, and yet I was still blown away. Taylor Jenkins Reid told such a real story, with live characters, I constantly had to remind myself this was fiction. It read so easy, like an interview which made it so fun hearing the story jump from one character's mouth to the other, hearing the same event from what some were observing to the raw emotions that were so clearly being buried by all the members of the band. Everyone was going through a difficult time, but of course all anybody could see was Billy and Daisy.

As I was reading, I was listening to my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs on a loop. The story was so real, the pulse of the imaginary music, the lyrics, the energy. It was so interesting to see how the songs they were creating together meant completely different things to Daisy and Billy, and how I could relate them to my own life and experiences.

About halfway through the book, hitting early hours of the morning, I was physically too tired to read but I couldn't stop. I was addicted to this story and was living for this world. For the hours it took me to read this, I was completely lost in the sex, drugs and the rock n roll scene of the 1970s. I instantly downloaded the audiobook and continued to listen and follow along as best I could. The audiobook adds a whole other level to the story. There is a full cast and it really feels like you are listening to an interview, or a podcast. The mystery is finally being brought to light, at the height of their fame, why did Daisy Jones and The Six fall apart and walk away forever. This book is huge, it is so powerful and really stings your heart.

But hey, that's rock n roll.
