"Everything affects everything." "You can't stop the future. You can't rewind the past. The only way to learn the secret . . . is to press play. Clay Jensen returns home from school to find a strange package with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers several cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker--his classmate and crush--who committed suicide two weeks earlier. Hannah's voice tells him that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Clay is one of them. If he listens, he'll find out why. Clay spends the night crisscrossing his town with Hannah as his guide. He becomes a firsthand witness to Hannah's pain, and as he follows Hannah's recorded words throughout his town, what he discovers changes his life forever."   ( goodreads ) 13 Reasons Why is one of my favorite books ever and it is very special to me. I first read it 9 years ago, not long after the paperback was first released, I wasn't a big r

"You go through life thinking there’s so much you need… Until you leave with only your phone, your wallet, and a picture of your mother. Marin hasn’t spoken to anyone from her old life since the day she left everything behind. No one knows the truth about those final weeks. Not even her best friend, Mabel. But even thousands of miles away from the California coast, at college in New York, Marin still feels the pull of the life and tragedy she’s tried to outrun. Now, months later, alone in an emptied dorm for winter break, Marin waits. Mabel is coming to visit, and Marin will be forced to face everything that’s been left unsaid and finally confront the loneliness that has made a home in her heart."  ( goodreads ) First, I want to discuss the beautiful cover. It's a perfect representation of Marin's dorm room in New York, to the beach in San Francisco that holds so much history. Even in her "new life" she is constantly looking back and cannot let he

Rosewood vs. Riverdale & What to Obsess Over Next

Image
Fans of both Pretty Little Liars and Riverdale can agree that murder mysteries are most addicting. Whether you are solving the mystery of who killed Allison DiLaurentis or Jason Blossom, which student- teacher relationship is more taboo, the most important question is what to possibly obsess over while you wait for more episodes!   Both Rosewood and Riverdale are towns fills with lies, secrets and double lives. The more you dig for the truth, the higher you climb on the killers hit list. The body count in Rosewood continues to rise, hopefully this is a fate that doesn't hit Riverdale.   As invested as we become in our main characters, if you haven't developed trust issues from PLL it is definitely a thing to keep in mind fellow Riverdale fans. You cannot trust anyone in a town filled with secrets and lies, because everyone is guilty of something.   While we wait the 3 week break from Riverdale and await the final 10 episodes of PLL that begin airing in April 2017,

"It was the perfect trip…until it wasn’t. Eighteen-year-old Jill Charron wakes up in a hospital room, leg in a cast, stitches in her face and a big blank canvas where the last six weeks should be. She discovers she was involved in a fatal car accident while on a school trip in Italy. A trip she doesn’t even remember taking. She was jetted home by her affluent father in order to receive quality care. Care that includes a lawyer. And a press team. Because maybe the accident…wasn’t an accident. As the accident makes national headlines, Jill finds herself at the center of a murder investigation. It doesn’t help that the media is portraying her as a sociopath who killed her bubbly best friend, Simone, in a jealous rage. With the evidence mounting against her, there’s only one thing Jill knows for sure: She would never hurt Simone. But what really happened? Questioning who she can trust and what she’s capable of, Jill desperately tries to piece together the events of the past six weeks
