The Haunting of Sunshine Girl by Paige McKenzie with Alyssa Sheinmel

Image
Based on the YouTube series "The Haunting of Sunshine Girl" by Paige McKenzie   Link to The Haunting of Sunshine Girl Network   When Sunshine's adopted mother, Katharine, gets a new job as head Nurse, they move from sunny Austin, Texas to rainy Ridgemont, Washington. As Sunshine feels the distance between her best friend, Ashley and the only life she's ever known, she gets a cold, creepy feeling from her new house. Creepy isn't even the word to properly describe the freezing temperatures she constantly feels and the overpowering smell of mildew. Sunshine starts to notice things are not where she left them, and hears whispers and laugher throughout the house that no one else hears. It's not too long till Sunshine realizes she has a ghost on her hands, and it's affecting her mother in a very negative way. With the help from her friend Nolan, Sunshine learns she has a deadline to save Katherine, or suffer a terrible fate.   I loved this book

"She stole a life. Now she must pay with her heart."   When nineteen year old Feyre is hunting in the woods to feed her family, she kills, what she assumes to be, a wolf. A beast creature shows up at her family's little house and demands a life for the life that was taken, and instead of choosing death, Feyre agrees to go with the beast and live in the magical world she only heard about in stories. As she learns more about Tamlin and the beautiful Fae world, her hostile attitude towards him turn into a fiery passion. As Tamlin and his friend Lucien open up about the dangers of the Fae world, no one talks about the curse that shadows over them. Can Feyre save Tamlin from whatever secrets he isn't telling her about, or threaten to doom him forever.   I absolutely loved and highly recommend this Beauty and the Beast Retelling. It's a beautiful story with secrets, adventure, surprises, an extraordinary Fae world, and romance. The love that Feyre develops

A New Series from Sara Shepard!?

Image
Sara Shepard has been one of my favorite authors since I discovered Pretty Little Liars in my High School years, long before the TV show was a hit series.   Since then I have read her book series following Pretty Little Liars , including The Lying Game , The Heiresses (a standalone), and The Perfectionists .     I have been patiently waiting for Sara Shepard to come out with a new series and I think it's finally on the way.   After doing some digging on goodreads.com  I came across a new title. The Amateurs (The Amateurs #1)   Goodreads book description has the following listed:   "Pitched as Veronica Mars meets Gillian Flynn – in which a group of amateur teen sleuths come together to figure out who killed one of their sisters."     Then, about a month ago after doing some research online, I came across something more detailed about Shepard's new potential series:     Anything new from Sara Shepard will be on the top of my re

Poisoned Apples by Christine Heppermann

"Poems for You, My Pretty."   There is no struggle that is more important than another. I picked Poisoned Apples to review this week because of the ugliness some of the messages in these poems explore. This week, February 1st- 7th is National Eating Disorder Awareness Week.   Poisoned Apples is a collection of fairy tale styles poems wrote to relate to the modern teenage girl. Reading Poisoned Apples was a devastatingly powerful message that connected with my teenage self and as well as current problems that a girl faces everyday of her life.   I personally find writing a review on a poetry book sometimes difficult. There are no characters to discuss, no plot to analyze, no setting to describe. Poisoned Apples was such an experience and I strongly suggest it for girls. It speaks to your soul and help you realize you are not the only one that feels these pressures.   I loved the black and white styles photographs in this collection. Any book is always signi
