Burning by Danielle Rollins

"Monsters are more interesting than heroes"

Just months before her release from Juvie, Angela is desperate to stay clear of trouble to get back to her brother and finally be free. But that might be easier said than done. As 10 year old Jessica is brought in under high security, things start to feel off. Angela grows suspicious of Jessica and begins to realize what makes her so dangerous. Sometimes people are the monsters of our story, and Brunsfield Correctional Facility just became unsafe.

Danielle Vega is known for her horror stories with beautiful covers. Now also under the name Rollins, she writes her first thriller book and it was no absolutely fantastic. The characters were really likable and amazing, Angela and Jessica were so interesting to read about. It has a really compelling sci fi element to it that I loved, and really was the plot line for the whole story. I did predict parts of what was going to happened but definitely not the end game for this novel. It turned out to be a complete shitshow and without giving too much away, a lot of characters lives are unknown. I cannot wait to pick up the companion novel Breaking, to see who actually makes it to the end, how this story will wrap up and what twists are still left to this story. Another highly addictive, one night kind of read from Danielle.

Comparison: Breaking

My Rating: 4.5/5 Stars
