A Court of Mist and Fury (ACOTAR #2) by Sarah J. Maas

"For love, She cheated death. For her world, She will become a weapon."   A Court of Mist and Fury is the sequel to A Court of Thorns and Roses. Reading the following review will give spoilers to the first book. Below is a link to my review on the first book in the trilogy:   A Court of Thorns and Roses #1     After saving Tamlin and Prythian from Amrantha Under the Mountain, Feyre, now a High Fae, is left broken and guilt ridden. The night bring dream terriers and her days aren't much better. Struggling to deal with her new body and human heart, both her and Tamlin try to move on from the horrors that still haunt them. Including the bargain Feyre made with Rhysand, The High Lord of the Night Court, who intends on calling in his time alone with her..       WOW. Nothing else can express how incredible this book was. I read the first book a few months ago, falling in love with it instantly. The Beauty and the Beast r...

Rowan's Glen is a small farming town where everybody knows everybody. And Ivy is about to learn the smallest towns have the darkest secrets.   As kids, Mamie told Ivy and her cousin Heather about the stories of Birch Markle and the horrible thing that happened on May Day. Since the incident that left Rowan's Glen devastated, May Day is a thing of the past. But strange things start happening in the Glen, and the people think the best thing to brighten their spirits is to bring back the May Day celebration and crown a new Queen. As Ivy notices Heather sneaking around and keeping secrets, Ivy cannot help but think their relationship is on the rocks. But Heather goes missing the day after May Day, Ivy is determined to uncover the secrets of the girl she thought she always knew.     Ivy and Heather grew up together, as best friends and cousins, there isn't anything they don't know about each other. Things like how much Ivy thinks about the boy next door, Rook, an...

Queen of Hearts by Colleen Oakes

Queen of Hearts Summary       I really wanted to love this book . I'm a huge fan of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, as well as the movies and I've been branching out to retellings. Sadly though, I couldn't find the energy to see Queen of Hearts to the end, as it failed the 100 pages challenge (If you are not enjoying a book by the first 100 pages, then it probably isn't the book for you). There were a few things I would like to discuss about this book. We follow the main character Dinah, the Duchess of Wonderland, as a teenage girl. I didn't overly like Dinah, even though her personality was difficult to distinguish. She has a lot of jealousy and limited knowledge to her.   Her father is the King of Wonderland which was something that made my face look like I ate something sour. It was definitely a change having a (mean) male character in control of Wonderland, but one of my favourite aspects of Wonderland is that only women can rule. I grew...

New From Veronica Roth

Veronica Roth has announced that she is currently working on a new duology, excepted to release in stores January 17th, 2017. Earlier today the cover, title, release date and full description for the first book has been revealed.       Anyone who knows me, knows how much I adore the Divergent series (Yes, I even mean the ending of Allegiant ). So I cannot wait to get my hands on Veronica Roth's next book, Carve the Mark (Untitled Duology #1) .   Below is the description as given on goodreads       On a planet where violence and vengeance rule, in a galaxy where some are favored by fate, everyone develops a currentgift, a unique power meant to shape the future. While most benefit from their currentgifts, Akos and Cyra do not — their gifts make them vulnerable to others’ control. Can they reclaim their gifts, their fates, and their lives, and reset the balance of power in this world? Cyra is the sister of the brutal t...
