I did not expect to become so attached and emotional over a short story, but Taylor Jenkins Reid creates such amazing and relatable characters. I felt such a pain in my heart for Carrie and David once they discovered all the dark secrets of their spouses affair. Since I couldn't find a copy online to read, I listened to the hour long audiobook, which brought a higher level to the heartbreak, and I love when there is a full cast for audiobooks. I had no idea what would happen to their marriages, I was on the edge of my seat with every secret meeting, even letter discovered, and every letter shared between Carrie and David.
I beamed when Carrie mentions listening to Daisy Jones. The more I read Taylor's books, the more I pick up on the connections between her stories and characters.
The ending was beautiful. I feel relieved that both Carrie and David were able to both have a happy future. Even though this was just a short story, I cannot help but wonder what would have happened if we had gotten just one more letter.
If you have Audible, I highly suggest getting this audiobook! As I said, the short story is only an hour and nineteen minutes. You don't even need to use a credit for this, it only costs $1. 75 CA. I promise it is beyond worth it!
