Spoiler Review: A Court of Wings and Ruin (ACOTAR #3) by Sarah J. Maas

Predictions I had for this book:

- Feyre's mother was a fae

(why Tamlin's glamour never worked on Nesta & Feyre was able to walk across the wall and into Spring Court even though she was blind folded on her travels there and back home).

- Amren is a dragon (my coworker, Haley, and I want and believe this to be a thing)

- Mor & Azriel's bond will snap into place
- Feyre was going to kill Tamlin

 

Okay, this book was amazing. I was honestly a little nervous to read a book that I had no idea would follow up the amazing A Court of Mist and Fury and I have never read a final book in a series by Sarah J. Maas so I didn't know what to expect from her.

 

I think it was interesting the way she tried to redeem Tamlin, I really was expecting Feyre to kill him since he was working with Hybern. I can see his purpose for making it to the end, yes, yes he may have saved Rhysand when he died but still, I kind of wanted Tamlin to die. I cried when Rhysand died, it broke my heart and I hurt for Feyre, but I am little glad at the peace made between all of them, especially between Tamlin and Feyre. Those scenes at the High Lords meeting was so intense and uncomfortable, Tamlin was so immature. Although, I didn't expect him to take the news well but he made Feyre look so bad. The awkward sex talk in front of everyone, the way he made it seem like she only was with Rhys to get the title of High Lady after Tamlin shut it down. I think it's hilarious that I was so #TeamTamlin in the first book and how ACOMAF did a total twist to #TeamRhysand and Tamlin make my blood boil.

 

NESTA AND CASSIAN ARE SO AMAZING THEY HAVE TO BE TOGETHER. Cassian is so fantastic he really deserves to be happy. Nesta is kind of a lot to take but near the end of the book she really seemed to be softening up, especially around Cassian. My coworker, Haley, said something that really stuck with me, that Cassian and Nesta's mating bond already snapped into place, but since we are only getting Feyre's POV we don't know that yet..  

That's all I think really needs to be said about that.

 

Lucien is the son of the High Lord of Day Court. That was SUCH a huge twist. It makes me kind of sad that Helion cannot be together with Lucien's mom, because Beron is a complete dick, so are Lucien's brothers. I would love to see in the future books Lucien find out and cut all ties from Autumn Court.

 

I really wanted Mor and Azriel to get together but every since Mor's confesstion to Feyre I can't believe I didn't figure it out sooner. I really hope that Mor comes out to the inner circle and especially explains to Azriel that she will never be able to love him that way. I think he deserves that and that Mor should be happy with any female she wants. When Maas is finally finished with Prythian I want Mor to be happy with the right girl.

 

I am not really a fan of Lucien. I know a lot of people are but I have to agree with Rhys, he's a fox. I said that I would like him to cut all ties from Autumn Court and go to Day Court but I can also see him going a different direction. I would like him to take over Autumn Court but that would also mean the secret of him being the heir of Day Court would have to be a secret. If it came out it would also mean a lot of trouble for his mother. This is a sticky situation and going to be a tough call for Maas to decide Lucien's fate. But I do not think his fate should be with Elain.

 

The Elain, Lucien and Azriel triangle. I think this will be interesting.

I think that the fact that the mating bond can be rejected and it was mentioned is some lowkey foreshadowing for these three. I want Elain to reject the mating bond and be with Azriel. They are so cute together and I think they both need to embrace it, with Mor's blessing.

 

Ianthe is dead and it was done so perfectly. The King of Hybern is dead and it was so unexpected that ELAIN was the one to kill him. Muhaha.

 

I wasn't a huge fan of Elain at first. She was so boring and was acting a little weird with all her seeing into the future. But she stepped up and proved herself and I can't wait to see what she can do with her powers and am looking forward to seeing her relationships develop.

 

I am going to really miss having Feyre's POV. Even though things ended happily for Rhysand I still need more. I want a whole split POV book from them as parents. I want to see that. They are going to be amazing together. I hope this means that we will get a book from each sister, Elain and Nesta's, POV. They have so much power to develop and learn from and their relationships are a hot mess. I want them both to find their place in Night Court.

 

 

Things I need concluded in the spin off books:

- I still do not fully understand what Amren is

- Why Nesta pushes everyone away, including and most importantly, Feyre

- The Elain, Lucien and Azriel love triangle

- Lucien and his family drama
The other books in the series will be from Nesta & Elain's POV (although I would also love a POV book from anyone in the inner circle!)


This book, and this whole series was such an emotional read. Thank you Sarah J. Maas for this series, this world and these characters. I cannot wait to see what other tales from Prythian you spin.
