I Hate Fairyland Volume 1: Madly Ever After by Skottie Young

Once upon a time, little 8 year old Gertrude wished to go to a magical world. Her wish was granted and she was taken to Fairyland where she meets lots of creatures, including Queen Cloudia. For Gertrude to get home, she would need to take a days quest to find the key to open the door back to her world. But in her case, finding the key didn't come so easily..

This graphic novel was simply amazing, truly now a personal favourite. It takes a wonderful, magical place like Fairyland and turns sweet, innocent little Gertrude into an insane psychopath. Gertrude is having a bit of a difficult time location the key, with the help of her guide, Larry, and tends to lose her temper along the way, usually resulting in Fairyland creature casualties. And honestly, Queen Cloudia is getting sick of Gertrude's attitude. It has a wonderfully interesting story plot and had some really fun twists in there, leading to an amazingly face palm ending. I have to hope this isn't the end of Gertrude's adventure. I need more of the horrible little green haired girl with the brazen mouth and blood thirsty appetite.

When coming across this it instantly reminded me of the Imagination Land episodes from South Park.

If you're looking for something that's horrific funny in a fairy tale world, I highly recommend this.
