Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles #2) by Marissa Meyer

This book is the second in a series. Warning, the following review will contain spoilers from the first book, Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles #1).

Below are links to previous reviews I have done in The Lunar Chronicles Series:

The second Lunar Chronicles book bring more fairy tale characters into our cyborg lunar story. Scarlet is loosely based off Little Red Riding Hood, who is looking for her grandmother, with the help of a lunar solider, Wolf. As Scarlet and Wolf begin to piece together the reasons why Michelle Benoit might have been taken under the order of Queen Levana, more of the mystery that is Princess Selene comes to light. On the other side of the world, Cinder gains an alley in Captain Thorne, who is wanted for theft in several countries. He has a stolen spaceship hidden and the two try to stay under the radar as they watch Emperor Katio make a promise that puts the future of Earth in danger.

As much as I loved Scarlet, this book did move a little slower than Cinder. I absolutely loved the new characters in this book. I really enjoy experiencing Marissa Meyer's clever way of fusing all these stories together in an amazing overlap. After finding out in the first Lunar Chronicles book that Cinder is the long lost Princess Selene, it took all my energy from screaming at the characters when they assumed things wrong. Scarlet and her grandmother are such an important part of her story.

Scarlet is a realist red head, who's loyalties are solely devoted to finding her grandmother and clearing her name for what has so obviously been a mistake.
Wolf is a street fighter, who has had enough of running with his pack and obeying Queen Levana.
Captain Thorne is a misunderstood theft, who is determined to help Cinder in her quest to reclaim her throne.

I cannot wait to find out how this whole story unfolds, and this is only the beginning. Cinder and her friends have a long way to go before overthrowing Queen Levana and saving the world.

The Lunar Chronicles:
Book 1: Cinder
Book 3: Cress
Prequel: Fairest
Book 4: Winter
Novella: Stars Above

My Rating: 5/5 Stars
